1. International short course on data analysis using R platform
By special order of the Institute of Mathematics and Allied Sciences (IMCA), we are pleased to participate the completion of the international course Introduction to Data Analysis that will be exposed by the professors Enrico Rogora and Sergio Camiz belonging to the Dipartamento de Matematica Guido Castelnuovo de la Sapienza Università di Roma, Italy.
This short course, whose theme deals with the statistical concepts of data management, brings as novelty the R platform's use, an Open Source software for data management, and, as spreadsheet, the Spreadsheet of Open Office, another free category software.
Let us remember that as engineers we always have the opportunity to handle data. And therefore we must know all those tools that facilitate our work. Imagine what would happen if we don't have to hand the SPSS or other statistical software. How do we resolve the impasse? We know very well that licenses are expensive and therefore not everybody implement them on their computers. So this could be a solution. In addition, and here comes another important detail, the course is FREE ADMISSION.

Alberto Palacios Pawlovsky, who serves as principal Professor at the Toin University of Yokohama, was kind enough to share the following information to study in Japan, the same ProUNI puts at the disposal of the visitors to our website.

3. SELECTION PROCESS RESULTS FOR SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST "SOUTHERNPERU BOARD UNI - 2011"
After a rigorous selection process, the jury selected six candidates who cited for an interview, after which they proceeded to a discussion which determined the selection of two (02) candidates whose names are as follows:

The winners of the selection process, graduates of the specialties of Mechatronics Engineering and Sanitary Engineering shall continue studies at the Eidgenossische Technische Hochschule en Switzerland and the Universidad de Sao Paulo in Brazil, respectively.

2. SELECTION PROCESS RESULTS "ANDRES DEL CASTILLO - 2011" SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST
Completed the deadline for the call, the jury met to examine dossiers and selected four candidates graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering (FIC) and two candidates graduated from the Faculty of Geological, Mining and Metallurgy Engineering, (FIGMM) who were cited for an interview; after which they proceeded to a discussion which determined the selection of three (03)candidates whose names are as follows:

1. RESULTS OF THE SELECTION PROCESS SCHOLARSHIP TO FRANCE.
After a rigorous selection process, the jury agreed to grant the three (03) scholarships to France established by the Patronage of the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria (ProUNI) for this year to the following candidates:

The jury was composed by:

In accordance with the provisions of the Cooperation Framework Agreement signed by ProUNI and the Embassy of France last year, each scholarship is endowed with € 10 000, which covers the cost of airfare, lodging, and French classes at the Alianza Francesa of Lima - Perú. Additionally, ProUNI paid to Franco Peruvian Foundation € 1 000 for administrative expenses of each student. Tuition fees and health insurance, among others, are covered by the French government.
We take this opportunity to thank the candidates, judges, and all those who participated in this selection process, the call for next year scholarships will be released late this year.

1. CALL TO THE SCHOLARSHIPS COMPETITION OF THE PROUNI - EMBASSY OF FRANCE AGREEMENT
And finally it came. It has been left the bases of the Scholarship contest Call. Our phone constantly rang and to expedite the information process it was necessary to "upload" the document as quickly as possible on our Web site.
In addition, the Embassy’s person in charge of this process was kind in achieving us two documents with information about different courses offered by the Government of France:
a) Information on the types of Diplomas awarded by the French higher education.
b) Information on obtaining the Engineer’s Diploma in France.

1. PROUNI - EMBASSY OF FRANCE AGREEMENT
The French Ambassador to Perú signed with Engineer Alberto Benavides de la Quintana, Chairman of ProUNI Patronage a cooperation agreement that sets up a new scholarship program financed by the ProUNI and the French Embassy.
Through this agreement it will be granted scholarships to UNI Graduate students in the Engineering Science area. This very important agreement will become effective in the coming months. Stay tuned to the call!

1. NEW INSTITUTIONAL LOGO
It was a taken decision during the Board meetings (12/18/2009) and it remained to be actually made. The logo had to be redesigned but being careful on keeping its old style in order to create the impression of continuity. We can appreciate it then. Now all our official documents must show it!:

1. WEB SITE’S RE-LAUNCH OF UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL DE INGENIERIA PATRONAGE
Internet, without doubt, has become a multiple possibilities universe. Have a place in the network, duly updated and properly oriented, can become a powerful tool that contributes, along with other initiatives and organization strategies, to rank us against our target audience.
In the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria Patronage (ProUNI), we are convinced of this. We believe that communication’s way between visitors and ProUNI Web site is the key point in user's decision returning to the Site, or not coming back to this ever again.
Our two primary objectives are to promote academic excellence in the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (1), and be the bridge to expand and strengthen relationships between Business Sector and the UNI (2). It is therefore essential to establish communication channels.
On one hand, we hope that graduates look at ProUNI as an entity always ready to welcome them, who work for their Alma Mater alongside with university authorities. On the other hand, we pretend entrepreneurship recognize on UNI graduates’ professionals the necessary elements in their companies because their quality, professionalism and ethics so they will feel engaged and more actively support our project.
The redesign of our Web site aims to provide information of interest to those who visit it; this is a long haul initiative. Our first goal is to significantly increase the number of active members. Our commitment is to consolidate our presence; in that we will put all our efforts.
